Preservation of Scripture: Old and New Testaments

1611 Authorized

King  James Bible

God’s Word has been preserved for us in English in the 1611 Authorized King James Bible.

The 1611 AKJV Bible is the only English Bible to use exclusively the Hebrew – Masoretic Text for the Old Testament, and the Greek – “textus receptus” text for the New Testament.

Moses’ original autographs were not in existence at the time when Christ walked the earth. Jesus read from copies which had been carefully copied by the scribes!

The scribes were the ones in charge of making the hand-written copies of the scrolls. Jesus when He was on the earth read from the Masoretic copied scrolls of the preserved scripture and He identified those copies as being inspired scripture, i.e., the Word of God!

The scriptural evidences as to the inspiration, and preservation of scripture are many! Here are a few:

Inspiration:

II Timothy 3:15-17 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

II Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Preservation:

In the Old Testament:

Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Psalm 119:89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Psalm 12: 6,7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

In the New Testament:

I Peter 1:23,24b,25 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever…  The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth forever.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
